An unlikely garden is a place you might not expect to find flowers. These can be in spaces like a front yard, a sidewalk edge, or a small patch of grass. Instead of being empty or unused, these places are filled with plants that help the environment flourish. Unlikely gardens protect nature, one small space at a time, by providing sources of food for pollinators and helping the beauty and vitality of nature return to our world.

A pollinator is a creature that helps plants grow. Bees, butterflies, birds, beetles, and even bats carry pollen from one flower to another while they look for food.

Pollinators provide a crucial step in a plant’s process of growing seeds. Many of the foods we eat—and the flowers we love—depend on pollination. Providing more sources and places for pollination to occur allows for more healthy food to grow and enrich our lives.

The main goal of this initiative is to provide starting support for you to build your unlikely garden. You can book a consultation session with me to discuss your garden goals, and you will receive two design options for your space. Everything is tailored to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Payment is sent through e-transfer.

Once we have met and discussed your garden goals, you are required to send the fee for your consultation. I will send an invoice right after our consultation with instructions for payment. As soon as your fee is sent via e-transfer, I can begin working on your designs.

Alternatively, you can write a cheque after the consultation is completed. I will send still send you an invoice, and begin working on your design right away.

At this time, any services involving landscaping and implementing Unlikely Garden designs are case-by-case basis.

Of course! Every effort towards adding more native species and pollinating plants helps!

Just a couple of seeds in a pot can get you started. You can plant flowers in a pot, then two, or maybe you have access to a window box—start with what’s easiest for you. You can move towards larger spaces when you feel ready.

Choose native plants, avoid pesticides, and let your garden grow a little wild.
